Grace Neighborhood - No Lawn & Still Beautiful!
This home owner wanted to get rid of their boring, small, front lawn. For some interest and texture we added a dry creek bed using cobbles and boulders. Then we layered in varying Mediterranean and South African plants for color, movement, and more texture. Now the garden has character and interest. (Installed by Vice Landscape Management Inc). Sloping Fountaingrove Front Yard - No Lawn Please!
A number of years ago when winter rainfall was at a low, this homeowner wanted to conserve water and reduce maintenance. Not only did the front yard slope downward making mowing and irrigation difficult but it had a natural contour that begged for a dry creek bed. This dry creek bed added quite a bit of textural interest as well as echoing the other drainage swale on the opposite of the yard. Albeit this one is much more aesthetic. Countryside HOA's are Allowing Lawnless Front Yards - Hurray!
5 years ago when rainfall was limited, this homeowner wanted to do his part in reducing water usage. Also he was tired of the boring, expansive, front lawn. The lawn came out and many Mediterranean plants in a mixture of trees, shrubs, ornamental grasses, and perennials were planted. Now after 5 years, his garden has filled out with plenty of texture, color, and movement. (Installed by DK Landscaping Inc.). To enlarge picture, click on it.
Fire Rebuild - Rolling Oaks Community
After construction of an expansive, modern farmhouse, a landscape design with a relaxed rural feel was in order. Due to the sloping front yard and plenty of rocks on site, rock terracing was a no brainer. Two terraced walls were arranged around a large, existing, Oak tree that survived the fire. This Oak tree helped to ground the home within landscape and add dimensionality and interest. Plantings were a mixture of Mediterranean and natives with plenty of pollinator friendly specimens. Close to an outdoor patio some strategically placed landscape, shrub roses provided interest and pleasure for owner. To enlarge picture, click on it.
